New School Year Info
First Day of School (K-12)
The first day of the 2024-2025 school year is Tuesday, August 13, 2024. The goal is to have students in the building by 7:45 a.m.
In the morning, carline starts at 7:20 a.m., and the line tends to be lighter earlier in the drop-off window. On a typical morning, assembly will begin by 7:45 a.m. and instruction by 7:55 a.m. (Students will be considered tardy if they arrive later than 7:45 a.m., though there will be some grace extended during the first few days of school.)
For kindergarten families only, on the first day only, parents are invited to park in the front lot and walk their child in to their classroom at 8:10 a.m. for a final photo and hug.
Afternoon dismissal times vary by grade:
K-1 will dismiss starting at 3:05 p.m.
Grades 2-3 will dismiss starting at 3:15 p.m.
Grades 4-6 will dismiss starting at 3:25 p.m.
Grades 7-12 will dismiss starting at 3:30 p.m.
For the afternoon pick-up, it is important NOT to show up early. You should come when your oldest child is released. Please make arrangements for a slower pickup process for the first week of school as everyone gets the hang of things.
**Important note: The church just across 1st Street has asked that families not use their lot for drop off or pick-up. Parking is prohibited in the church parking lot unless the school gives notice that the church has given permission for specific school events. Parents should follow the standard procedure for carline unless they have submitted a form allowing their child to walk off campus at the designated time.
Carline Protocols
Morning Carline drop-off and Afternoon Carline pick-up for all students will take place at the front of the school along Association Street. All students must enter through the gym doors only.
Grammar school families needing handicap parking may use the handicapped spaces in the west parking lot at the corner of 1st and Association. Upper school families needing handicapped parking may use the handicapped spaces in the south parking lot off Ritter Street.
Morning carline will start at 7:20 a.m. You can help the carline keep moving for everyone by ensuring that your child is ready to get out on the passenger side of the vehicle (backpack on, with lunchbox and water bottle ready to go) as you pull up.
Our speed will steadily improve over the first week or so. Our goal is to get students in the building by 7:45 a.m., so that we can have students in Morning Assembly by 7:45 a.m. and into their classrooms by 8:00 a.m. If you arriver after 7:45 a.m. and there was no line holding you up, you will need to park and enter through the main lobby entrance to sign in your child. After 7:50 a.m., students will be marked tardy.
To aid in afternoon dismissal, please note that times vary by grade:
K-1 will dismiss starting at 3:05 p.m.
Grades 2-3 will dismiss starting at 3:15 p.m.
Grades 4-6 will dismiss starting at 3:25 p.m.
Grades 7-12 will dismiss starting at 3:30 p.m.
A few reminders:
If you have multiple students, please pick them all up at the dismissal time for the oldest student.
Stay in your car when dropping off or picking up. Staff will be present to assist students.
Do not park in the church parking lot.
Again, please budget extra time for the first week of carline, especially in the afternoons. Carline is a slow process every year at the outset. It takes some practice for staff, students, and parents to get the hang of things. Don't worry! It will get faster. Till then, we ask for your patience.
