Middle School

“Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.”

Middle School

Middle School—grades 6-8—are designed as a bridge between the Grammar School and the High School. Students begin to have greater independence. They now have lockers and change classrooms. But it is not yet the high school experience. Middle School students have fewer teachers and switch between just a couple of rooms for their core subjects.

Students are led by a talented group of teachers that is excited to introduce their students to a wider world—one marked by a growing awareness of themselves and their surroundings.

Middle School continues all that is best about the Grammar School: The coherent, content-rich curriculum that includes art and music, French and Latin, history and science; the emphasis on reading, writing, thinking, and speaking well; the small class sizes and close-knit community. But students’ opportunities expand. They may now compete in sports, and more clubs are available to them, along with our House System.
