Enrollment Policy 2024-2025

(updated on January 4, 2024)

A.   General Eligibility

Seven Oaks Classical School is open to any student who resides in the State of Indiana. The school admits students of any race, color, and national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.

B.   Number of Available Student Spots

Seven Oaks enrolls approximately 54 students per grade level, kindergarten through twelfth grade. Typically, this means three smaller classrooms each in kindergarten and first grade that feed into two larger sections in each grade thereafter.

C.   New Student Registration for the 2024-2025 School Year

For the 2024-2025 school year, Seven Oaks Classical School will admit students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade.

The school will begin receiving preregistrations for the 2024-2025 school year during the “Initial Preregistration Period” (“Initial Preregistration”). Initial preregistration for the 2024-2025 school year will run from Monday, January 15, 2024, through Monday, March 4, 2024.

All new student preregistrations received during this period will receive equal consideration. All preregistrations must be received electronically through the school’s online admissions portal. The admissions portal will be publicly accessible from the school website.

If needed at the end of the Initial Preregistration Period, a lottery will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, for any grade levels in which the school receives more new student preregistrations than available seats in order to determine the order of admissions. This lottery will be conducted by software randomizer in a public meeting at a time set by the administration. Following the results of the lottery, all available seats will be offered. Parents or guardians who do not attend the lottery will be notified by email. Failure of a preregistrant to confirm his or her intent to enroll within 2 business days of the date of that seat offer will forfeit his or her position in line.

Once parents or guardians have been notified of an available seat and have confirmed their student’s intent to enroll, they have fifteen (15) business days to complete the registration checklist in the online admissions portal. Failure to do so will forfeit an enrollee’s position in line. After completion of the enrollment checklist by Seven Oaks Classical School, the student’s name will be added to the appropriate grade level list.

After Preregistration, the school will continue accepting student transfer requests through Friday, January 31, 2025. Transfer students will be offered a seat if one is available; or, if there is a waiting list in the desired grade, transfer students will be added to the waiting list in the order in which they complete the registration checklist, subject to the admissions preferences described below.

If a seat comes available at any point up to the end of the transfer window, the next available individual on the waiting list will be offered admission. However, a parent or guardian must confirm an intent to enroll via the school’s online enrollment portal within two business days, or else the school will proceed to the next family on the waiting list.

Where there are multiple sections or classes in which a student may be placed, final placement will be determined by the administration and faculty. Parental requests will be taken under consideration but are not guaranteed satisfaction.

D.  Transfer Students

The school will continue accepting new student transfer requests through Friday, January 31, 2025.

E. Re-Enrollment for the 2024-2025 School Year

Currently enrolled students who wish to return for the 2024-2025 school year must fill out the “Intent to Return” form during the “Re-Enrollment Period.” The Re-Enrollment Period for the 2024-2025 school year will run from Monday, January 8, 2024, through Friday, February 23, 2024.

Returning students are also required to update their information by completing the re-enrollment checklist on the school’s online enrollment portal by June 30, 2024.

Students who indicate their intent to return during the re-enrollment period and who complete the re-enrollment checklist by June 30, 2024, are guaranteed a seat.

F.   Early Admission to Kindergarten

Students seeking admission to kindergarten must turn five (5) years old by August 1 of the academic year for which they seek enrollment in order to be automatically eligible for admission. Parents who wish to enroll a child who turns five years old from August 2 to December 31 of the enrollment year may complete the registration checklist in the school’s online admissions portal. However, their child’s eligibility will be determined by a kindergarten readiness assessment administered by the school.

G.   Enrollment of Student from Another School Corporation after Expulsion

If a student has been expelled from another school corporation, or expulsion proceedings have been initiated, and the student seeks to transfer to Seven Oaks Classical School, he or she will be considered for enrollment only if the student and guardians fully cooperate in providing a full record of the student’s academic, disciplinary, and criminal records.

The student and a parent or guardian of the student will meet with a school administrator to discuss enrollment and the school’s expectations regarding student performance and conduct.

Once all relevant information has been reviewed and an interview completed, the school’s administration will decide whether to admit the student. Any offer of admission would be contingent on entering a contract with Seven Oaks Classical School as permitted under I.C. 20-33-8-30 et seq.  The student would be allowed to attend Seven Oaks Classical School only so long as he or she complies with the terms of this contract, which will remain in effect for duration of the term for which the student had been expelled.

H.  Admission Preferences

The only admission preferences at Seven Oaks Classical School are for siblings of enrolled students and the children of faculty and staff.

Siblings: At any point in the year, if a registrant has a sibling enrolled in Seven Oaks Classical School, that registrant will be offered a seat if there are any available in the registrant’s grade level. If a family is seeking to enroll multiple children, and one child receives a seat, the other children of the same family will be offered a seat if one is available in their requested grade level(s). If there is not a space available, siblings will be automatically added to the priority waiting list for their grade level(s).

Faculty/Staff Children: At any point in the year, if a faculty or staff member has a child who desires to attend Seven Oaks Classical School, his or her child will automatically be granted any open seat.

In a case where the number of children who qualify for priority admissions exceeds the number of seats available, the first seats will be awarded to the children of faculty and staff.

Where necessary, a public lottery will be used to establish the order of admissions within the pool of students qualifying for priority status, and then a second drawing used to establish the order of the waitlist for all other new student registrants.

Students who qualify for priority admissions who register for the 2024-2025 after Initial Preregistration Period, will be offered any available seats at their grade level. Where there is a general waiting list, they will proceed to the top of the waiting list. Where there are already students who qualify for priority admissions on the waiting list, new priority registrants will be placed at the end of the priority waiting list.
