Dr. Trevino grew up in a suburb outside of Houston, near NASA mission control, before moving to San Antonio for her undergraduate studies at Trinity University. She then left Texas to pursue graduate studies at the University of Chicago, where she specialized in Homeric poetry and discovered the joy of teaching Classical languages. She received her PhD in 2019 after defending her dissertation on interdisciplinary approaches to analyzing the Odyssey. While she still is passionate about epic poetry, ancient religion, and narrative, her time at the University of Chicago also provided her the opportunity to lead classroom instruction for undergraduates over six years, as well as to tutor young students privately in Latin and Ancient Greek. She looks forward to pursuing this calling of hers, to bring classical education to young people and to help them to discover how Latin, Classical history, and literature can empower them to succeed in the world.
Why I Teach
As a young person, learning empowered me to overcome a number of challenges and I enjoy providing that same empowerment to others.
